The school is so loving and warm. It's small so everyone gets noticed. The faculty is kind and the kids are very talented. It's the ONLY school in NY that offers location, where you can miss school for auditions or shows and not get penalized!

My school is awesome. Even though, we are going through lots of budget cuts, this school still is able to maintain awesome talent and still produces some of the greatest people you will ever meet. Inside and out.

On a daily basis PPAS provides me with fundamentals i need to achieve artistically and academically. It is a school extremely dedicated to ech and every indivisual student. My school is very small providing a family-esque environment allowing me to express myself openly. I do not know of a school so caring.

My child always comes home from school with a big smile on her face. The teachers are the best teachers I have ever met...the are very educated in their field, which gives me happiness to know my daughter is in good hands. This follows for the performing arts teachers as well. Best school I witnessed in NYC thus far.

Because its a place that conditions people in their arts in a healthy way. It gets overlooked since it is so close to one of the largest public performing arts schools in the city and definitely needs funding in order to continue running all of its performing arts programs.

I feel extremely honored to be apart of this high school and with its reputation on the line i will srive to be not only the best artist i can be, but also the best person i can be.

I love the Professional Performing Arts High School because it is a place for the strange and the gifted. It is a place for the students to be who they are and learn in a very safe environment. The teachers at P.P.A.S. give so much to there students. Talent, passion and drive radiates from every student and every faculty member. The fact that it is a place for the students to do both school work and artistic work is a blessing. P.P.A.S. has helped me become a stronger individual. That is why I love this school.

This school is amazing! It's a small school and great community so that every student gets a lot of attention. The teachers are excellent and the kids are all so passionate about what they want to do and are all so talented. We all get to do what we love and we learn from each other and support each other. It's not like the department-store of school called Laguardia; we actually know everyone we go to school with and our principal knows every one of our names. This school is great!

Because i get to do what I love.... and the people are amazing.

Because it serves my granddaughers scolastc needs by its affialiaton with NYU for advanced courses while it provides her needs as a performer (dancer, choreographer and back stage hand - building sets settin them up etc))

Everyone is so talented. no matter how angry you get at someone you always forgive them because it feels o much like a family. I love to walk down the halls and hear people singing and playing the piano in the pink room. or seeing dance students going over choreography in the hallway....or seeing vocals students going over choreography. lol

First of all this isnt like any normal school. Our school is special in its own way because we're all there because we love the arts. In our school people are so creative that its not even funny. Everybody can be themselves because nobody will judge you! thats the thing i love most about our school. The teachers are great they help us enjoy school. And they understand everything we go through. And they help us with everything they can. Our school is just amazing. And also we really need that money!

It is like a big family! Some of the best teachers you can find! The most talented people! I learned so much from everyone the 7 years I was there!

It is the perfect mix between academics and performing arts. The school is small, so there is no slipping through the cracks. And most of all, my daughter loves the school, she feels so comfortable there.

why do I love ppas? its like none other....no other school has academics during the morning and the student's major in the afternoon. The school trust their students so much, they are allowed to go out for lunch. The teacher are very caring.

There are people that attend from 5 different majors. We are all so different and yet we all get along great. In most schools there's a 'token' minority, but at PPAS were all equal.

Professional Performing Arts School is an amazing place to be. It makes you feel comfortable with yourself, with your peers, and most importantly with your craft. They strive to help us hone our talent and reach academic greatness. I love my school and am so happy to go there.
This review was posted by a student.

I am an Alumni, and i am extremely grateful to have been in PPAS for 4 years. Its not your average High school. As you walk through the halls, you can hear kids rehearsing over their music, practicing their lines before drama class, over going over a routine for dance. And, not only are the kids extremely talented, we are the same within our academic classes. We are like a small humble school, that strives for the kids to make it to where they want to be. The teachers never get bored because the kids always set the atmosphere, and because they are not teaching your average teenager. :)

I like the fact that most of the teachers can name each student on a first name basis

I love my school because, I feel like it's my 2nd home. People are friendly, outgoing, and I learn so much from the teachers everyday. It really is the best school in nyc!

I consider myself extremely fortunate to be teaching at PPAS - the students are incredibly talented, enthusiastic, engaged, 'unfettered and alive!' They're a joy to work with. My fellow teachers and the administration & staff are the hardest working group of educators I know. Throw in a landmark building in midtown Manhattan & the theater district - it doesn't get any better than this!
This review was posted by a teacher.

I love ppas. I get to do my dream singing acting and danceing, there are so many nice poeople but ever since budget cuts alot of fun programs were taken away. With this money we could get them back
This review was posted by a student.

PPAS is a everything a school should be. Teachers are your friends and you love learning new things. It's a safe environment and you love being there!
This review was posted by a other.

PPAS is an incredible place to learn professional work. We have such talented people working and going there, we have almost no money to the things we would like to do to become a better school. LaGuardia takes a lot of credit for being the best performing arts school but PPAS is just as amazing, but we are poor :[

this school is amaizing! everyday is like a new fame movie. I mean if you are not interested in the arts or becoming famous or having amaizing friends that truly understand you then you should just donate money for the future stars to shine

Fun, versatile, everyone knows everyone, classes are diverse and teachers are interactive in and out of the classroom, productions are amazing, clean, safe.

ppas is incredible because it's not like other schools, the atmosphere is overflowing with a plethora of positivity, we have the freedom to express ourselves as we like and not be afraid of judgment. ANYONE can find a friend; a group you fit into... you will never find kids roaming in the halls alone. the teachers are incredibly supportive and fun to be around there are no negative aspects to it
This review was posted by a student.

Our school is very small so everyone knows every one you can walk down the hallway and all the teachers know your name and if you ever needed any help they would stay there to help you for as long as you needed.
This review was posted by a student.

PPAS an amazing school. Not only do you pursue your academic goals but, you also get a chance to pursue your performing arts goals too. It's a great experience and the other students at the school are really nice and funny and you will make friends the minute you walk into the school.

PPAS is like no other school i have ever known. The people you meet here are amazing. Its like one big family. The training you get is more than i could imagine and really prepares you for life.
This review was posted by a student.

PPAS gave me a chance to express myself through what I love doing, without the teasing or judgement that often happens in other schools. Our school is like a giant family, and we all help each other to work harder and improve at our craft. The type of training we get here is absolutely incredible, and is often what is taught in colleges. All of the students are so talented, as well as loving and accepting of each other. Not only performing-wise, but academically, PPAS has an incredible program. The teachers are always willing to give help to those who need it and push us to do as well in math or english as in our performing arts. Basically... PPAS owns life.

OMG its amazing. I enjoy going to school every day of my life. The teachers are amazing and I have amazing friends.

PPAS is amazing! the teachers are fantastic and really care about they're students. It would be awesome if we had better sapce to show off our performing talents. It would such a help to students and teachers :]
This review was posted by a student.

It's awesome. It's a great place where kids who enjoy the performing arts, can come together in a respectful environment and learn. They have great teachers teaching academics and performing arts ( for 2 periods a day). Great staff, teachers, and principal!
This review was posted by a parent.

The new principal who joined the school a few years back is wonderful and really helps the school balance out the need for achieving high academic standards as well as excelling in the arts. The 6th grade teacher is very good and kids who are familiar (and OK) with academic structure will excel. Kids less familiar with (or resistant to) academic structure such as following rubrics or strict homework submission/re-work rules will struggle. The academics here are treated just as seriously as the perf. arts areas. It's like in sports for academic all-stars. The school expects you to excel in both areas. As a parent, I like this because the kids are expected to not lose focus on the importance of academics while honing their special talent.

My son just completed his Sophmore year at PPAS. This is his second High School and I must say that it has been a great experience for him compared to his last school. The staff made it very easy for him to afjust to the program. He quickly made friends and the teachers and staff are very supportive. I have always been able to contact any one of his teachers with any concerns I may have had. We love this school and I am preparing my younger son for addmittance to the 6th grade.

We are new to PPAS this year, and I want to rave about how helpful the staff was to us during the audition and registration processes. Their parent coordinator and registrar really went the extra mile to help. The PTSO is large, active, and welcoming. Newsletters are informative. The principal is a charismatic former teacher of the school. My daughter loves the student body and atmosphere (younger students singing musicals in the halls - and in a study area, a sign that actually says 'No singing in this hall') and is impressed with the education/knowledge level of her teachers. Her homework/studies seem on par with her former [Texas] high school, which had made Newsweek's top 100. So far, I highly recommend this school to students with an arts focus.

My daughter has absolutely loved her first year at PPAS, and so have I. The curriculum is diversified and challenging and presented in such a way where the kids really enjoy learning. Exposure to all possiblities is the best thing about this school. We all love it! -D. Reyes
